TORONTO - A famed Toronto landmark is up for sale.
Owners of the historic Flatiron Building — also known as the Gooderham Building — have decided to sell the triangular sandstone structure.
The five-storey building is located at the junction of Front, Wellington and Church Streets near the downtown financial district.
It was originally built in 1892 by architect David Roberts Jr. for George Gooderham, a former president of the Bank of Toronto and owner of Gooderham and Worts distillery.
The unusual wedge shape of the building and its location with the CN Tower in the background makes it a favourite for photographers.
The owners have set a deadline of Oct. 27 to receive bids on the building.
The building — which cost $18,000 to build — reportedly sold for $10.1 million in 2005.
