The desire for city-centre sanctuary is supreme.

The setting of Parkview Hills is one of a "winding peninsula crescent" that stretches west towards the Don River and straddles Taylor Creek Recreational Trail, with direct access points.

Parkview Hills is lush, secluded and on a rapidly "upward-trending" swing...and builders know it...they're keen to reshape to the demands of the influx of executives and growing families. With no through access, this neighbourhood is highly sought after for its secluded yet tranquil city centre local. This has brought a blend of property styles to the neighbourhood....from a healthy staple of solid original bungalows to the modern and avant-garde. Most new construction here has strong traditional or classic inspiration, making the fit a natural one.

Accommodating these homes are generous lot sizes, with many properties having a lot depth in the 300 foot plus range...that back onto the much sought after RAVINE backdrop...which will attract buyers for the indefinite future. Commonly, lot sizes are in the 40x200 ft range (especially interior lots).

History:

Parkview Hills was once part of the vast Taylor family estate. The Taylors moved to the Don Valley in the 1820's and built up a business empire that included a complex of mills and the Don Valley Brick Works.

The Taylors never settled on this part of their estate.  They were, however, involved in the subdivision of land in Parkview Hills. The Taylor family are said to have named Hackberry, White Pine, Alder and Aspen streets after trees that once grew in this area. Presteign Avenue, Presteign United Church, and Presteign School are all named after the Welsh hometown of William Pugh who, along with the Taylor family, subdivided the present day neighbourhood.

When Parkview Hills first opened in 1947, three bedroom bungalows were sold at just under $10,000. The foundations of these homes were dug using teams of horses. No paved roads services Parkview Hills until 1950. Local residents have recounted swimming and fishing in the nearby Taylor Creek. Unfortunately this practice came to an end in 1955 when Taylor Creek was deemed to polluted for recreational use.

Now on the mend, Taylor Creek is enjoyed by many for the popular Recreational Trail, for which there is direct access...

I went down this road before, very secluded area with some beautiful homes here. A lot are being torn down to build Mansions. This looks like an up and coming area.
